Dr. Nhi earned her Doctorate of Optometry magna cum laude from the Southern California College of Optometry. She has built her practice around three areas where patients often struggle: dry eye disease, scleral and specialty contact lenses, and slowing the progression of nearsightedness in children.
Having worn glasses and contact lenses since age 11, Dr. Nhi understands firsthand the frustration that comes with unclear or uncomfortable vision. She has published research on prosthetic lenses for iris conditions and regularly lectures to fellow eye care providers on myopia management and advanced contact lens care.

After experiencing nearsightedness as a child, Dr. Mai set out to help young patients avoid the cycle of stronger prescriptions year after year. Today, he focuses on slowing myopia progression in children and treating complex corneal conditions with custom scleral lenses. Beyond the clinic, Dr. Mai teaches future optometrists at the Southern California College of Optometry, lectures nationally on advancements in eye care, and serves on multiple advisory boards, with a primary focus on myopia management.

Dr. Lam is a dual Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association. Her advanced training supports her specialized work with complex vision conditions in both children and adults, including neurodevelopmental disorders and vision problems related to traumatic brain injury. Known for her ability to build meaningful connections with neurodivergent patients, Dr. Lam creates a supportive, individualized care experience for every person she serves. Dr. Kamo's passion for caring for others began at home, from tending to his little sister's scrapes to helping his elderly grandparents, and grew into a career in optometry after shadowing a close family friend. He completed his Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at UC Berkeley and earned his Fellowship of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). Focused on myopia management and specialty contact lenses for keratoconus and irregular corneas, Dr. Kamo has presented research on scleral lens wear and serves as a STAPLE Preceptor at the Southern California College of Optometry.

Dr. Hwang specializes in vision therapy and pediatric eye care, with a focus on binocular vision dysfunction and the ways it quietly derails a child's ability to learn, read, and focus. She treats everything from convergence insufficiency and tracking difficulties to more complex cases like amblyopia, double vision, and strabismus. She earned a dual Doctor of Optometry and Master of Public Health degree at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and completed her residency in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy at Pacific University. Dr. Hwang is especially devoted to making care accessible, welcoming neurodivergent patients, individuals with cortical visual impairment or cerebral palsy, and non-speaking patients who communicate through AAC devices, so every child has a real path to clearer, more confident vision.
Our Costa Mesa office is home to a full range of advanced eye care services led by fellowship-trained optometrists. We provide myopia management programs including Ortho-K, Stellest lenses, and atropine therapy to help slow your child's progression. Our vision therapy program — The Eye Gym — offers one-on-one sessions for conditions like lazy eye, concussion recovery, and learning-related vision problems. We also fit wavefront-guided custom contact lenses and scleral lenses for patients with keratoconus and irregular corneas, and offer advanced dry eye treatments including IPL therapy and TearCare.
Beyond our advanced services, we provide comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages — from infants as young as six months through adults. Our optometrists manage a wide range of medical eye conditions including red and pink eye, glaucoma screening, and diabetic eye disease. We also offer pre- and post-LASIK co-management, prescription glasses, soft contact lens fittings, and emergency eye care. Absolutely. We welcome patients of every age and take special pride in our pediatric eye care. Children as young as six months can receive their first eye exam here, and our office is designed with families in mind — complete with a children's exam room, a kids' optical boutique featuring Tomato Glasses and Miraflex frames, and a prize desk that makes every visit something to look forward to. Several of our optometrists hold advanced training in pediatric vision, binocular vision, and developmental optometry.
From Huntington Beach, our Costa Mesa office is just a short drive east. Head north on Beach Boulevard and merge onto the 405 Freeway eastbound. Take the exit for Bristol Street, then turn right onto Bristol and continue south to Baker Street. Turn left on Baker, then right onto Airway Avenue — you'll find us at 3151 Airway Ave, Suite M3, right near John Wayne Airport. The drive is typically about 15 minutes.
Coming from Irvine, take the 405 Freeway northbound or the 55 Freeway (Costa Mesa Freeway) northbound toward Costa Mesa. If you're on the 55, exit at Baker Street and head west. Turn left onto Airway Avenue and our office will be on your right at 3151 Airway Ave, Suite M3, just minutes from the South Coast Plaza area. Most Irvine patients reach us in about 10 to 15 minutes.
From Newport Beach, head north on Newport Boulevard toward Costa Mesa. Continue past 17th Street and merge onto the 55 Freeway northbound, then exit at Baker Street heading west. Turn left onto Airway Avenue to reach our office at 3151 Airway Ave, Suite M3. We're located near John Wayne Airport, making us an easy stop for Newport Beach families — typically just 10 minutes away.
