It’s not uncommon for people to dismiss issues with their vision as something that’s just temporary – that is until the symptoms worsen. Symptoms are your body’s way of telling you that something’s wrong, and it would be wise for you to take heed of them.
Symptoms can range from mere annoyances to disruptive or even debilitating states. But just because a symptom isn’t too disruptive doesn’t mean it’s rooted in a minor problem. Insight Vision Center, your go-to company in the state for all your vision therapy needs, lists the symptoms you shouldn’t ignore below.
All of us have suffered from red eyes at some point. Red, watery eyes are a common symptom of allergies or something as mundane as chopping onions. However, the symptoms can have a more serious underlying cause – extreme dryness.
Dry eyes are usually caused by insufficient tear production. Without enough tears to lubricate its surface, your eyes become more prone to irritation. Some eye drops or eye lubrication should fix the problem. But if it doesn’t, a more serious condition may be causing dry eye. In which case, it would be best to consult an eye doctor.
Pain in your eyes isn’t something you can easily brush off. The most likely cause behind the condition is inflammation, which may be caused by an irritant or a serious infection.
Seeing double is usually a sign you’ve had too much to drink, but it can also mean your eye muscles aren’t properly aligned. If the cause really is a misalignment of the eye muscles, eyeglasses can fix the condition; special lenses bend light to combine the two images into one.
Depending on the cause, vision therapy can be an option as well. With vision therapy, you’ll undergo a series of eye exercises that aim to strengthen the eye muscles.
Since the human body is so complex, even the tiniest problem can result in a serious condition. That said, there’s no way to pinpoint the specific problems that caused these symptoms to appear; that is unless you undergo a comprehensive eye exam.
