Insight Vision Optometry Las Vegas (Formerly The Contact Lens Institute of Nevada) Joins the Insight Vision Family

Posted May 5, 2026 by the team at Insight Vision Center Optometry, Costa Mesa

For more than a decade, patients across Nevada and well beyond have known one address for the most complex specialty contact lens fits in the region: The Contact Lens Institute of Nevada, founded by Dr. Stephanie Woo, OD, FAAO, FSLS. Today we are proud to share that the practice has entered its next chapter as a member of the Insight Vision family. The Contact Lens Institute of Nevada has rebranded as Insight Vision Optometry, Las Vegas, and the new home online is insightvisionlv.com. For our Orange County patients, this gives us a sister practice we can confidently refer to for complex specialty cases. For Las Vegas patients, it means continuity of the care you have trusted for years, an expanded scope of services, and a clinical brand that connects two of the most respected names in specialty contact lenses, optometry, and corneal care on the West Coast.

A New Chapter for The Contact Lens Institute of Nevada

For years, The Contact Lens Institute of Nevada built a reputation as one of the most respected specialty contact lens practices in the country. Founded by Dr. Stephanie Woo, the clinic was originally established as the only practice in Nevada dedicated entirely to custom and medically necessary contact lenses. Patients flew in from across the state, across the country, and from outside the United States for fits that simply could not be done elsewhere.

That mission is not going anywhere. The clinic, the doctors, the technology, and Dr. Stephanie Woo’s hands-on approach to every patient remain exactly as they have always been. What is new is the broader scope. Under the Insight Vision name, the practice is expanding to offer full-service optometry alongside its longstanding focus on specialty contact lens care, scleral lenses, and complex corneal cases. That means routine eye exams, primary eye care, dry eye treatment, glaucoma and diabetic eye care, refractive surgery co-management, and an in-office optical, all under the same trusted clinical roof.

The new website is live at insightvisionlv.com, the practice phone number is unchanged at 702-747-4070, and the address remains 9260 W Sunset Rd, Suite 209, Las Vegas, NV 89148. The clinic is located at Southern Hills Hospital in southwest Las Vegas, fifteen minutes from Harry Reid International Airport, which has long made it convenient for out-of-town patients flying in for consultations and fittings.

Meet Dr. Stephanie Woo, OD, FAAO, FSLS

If you have followed the world of specialty contact lenses for any length of time, you already know the name. Dr. Stephanie Woo is one of the most decorated optometrists in the country in this corner of the field, and she remains the founder and lead optometrist of what was The Contact Lens Institute of Nevada and is now Insight Vision Optometry, Las Vegas. Her full bio is available at insightvisionlv.com/dr-stephanie-woo-od/.

Education and training

Dr. Stephanie Woo earned her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry, graduating with honors. She then completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, a program known for producing some of the most clinically prepared optometrists in advanced anterior segment care. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society (FSLS).

Recognition and leadership

Dr. Stephanie Woo’s recognitions in the specialty contact lens field include:

  • GPLI Practitioner of the Year, the highest honor in the gas permeable lens industry
  • Scleral Lens Practitioner of the Year
  • Past President of the Scleral Lens Education Society
  • Nevada Optometric Association Educator of the Year, 2023
  • GPLI Award for Clinical Excellence
  • John R. Griffin Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy
  • The only practitioner in Nevada certified to fit EyePrintProsthetic lenses
  • GPLI Advisory Board member

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Stephanie Woo serves as an Adjunct Professor at Midwestern University College of Optometry and acts as a key opinion leader for major contact lens manufacturers. She is a published author in Contact Lens Spectrum, Review of Optometry, Review of Cornea and Contact Lenses, Review of Optometric Business, and EyeWitness, and she lectures internationally on specialty contact lenses, scleral lens fitting, and anterior segment disease.

A career built on specialty contact lens care

Numbers tell part of the story. Dr. Stephanie Woo has personally managed more than 2,000 specialty contact lens patients over the course of her career. Each of those fits represents a person whose vision needs went beyond what an off-the-shelf contact lens or a pair of glasses could correct. Many had keratoconus. Some had complications from previous refractive surgery, including LASIK, PRK, or radial keratotomy. Others arrived with severe dry eye, post-transplant corneas, ocular trauma, or scarring that made conventional vision correction impossible.

Specialty contact lens care is, in many ways, a craft. It calls for technical knowledge of corneal anatomy, lens materials, and optics. It also calls for patience, problem solving, and a refusal to accept that a patient simply has to live with poor vision because their cornea is unusual. That has been Dr. Stephanie Woo’s professional center of gravity for years, and it remains the heart of the practice today.

Why patients travel to see Dr. Stephanie Woo

Las Vegas is a destination city, and the practice has long welcomed patients flying in for specialty fits. Dr. Stephanie Woo’s clinical reputation has drawn elite athletes from Major League Baseball and NASCAR, as well as celebrity clientele who need vision correction that performs under demanding conditions. The clinic is fifteen minutes from Harry Reid International Airport, and the scheduling team has years of experience coordinating travel itineraries with consultations, fittings, and follow-ups.

For patients curious about the lenses themselves or how to care for them day to day, the practice maintains a library of educational videos at https://insightvisionlv.com/how-to-videos/, covering topics like inserting and removing scleral lenses, cleaning routines, daily wear schedules, and what to do when something feels off.

Conditions and Cases the Practice Handles

Insight Vision Optometry, Las Vegas continues to be a referral destination for some of the most challenging vision and ocular surface cases in the region. Common reasons patients are referred to or seek out the practice include:

  • Keratoconus, including early-stage diagnosis, progression monitoring, corneal cross-linking referral and post-CXL co-management, and specialty contact lens fitting
  • Post-refractive surgery complications such as ectasia, irregular astigmatism, halos, and night vision disturbances after LASIK, PRK, SMILE, or radial keratotomy
  • Post-corneal transplant care and contact lens fitting after PKP or DALK
  • Severe dry eye disease, including Sjögren’s syndrome, ocular graft-versus-host disease, and post-radiation eye involvement
  • Ocular trauma and corneal scarring with associated visual distortion
  • Pellucid marginal degeneration and other corneal ectasias
  • Pediatric specialty cases, including infant aphakia and high-power custom soft lenses
  • Aniridia, iris atrophy, and other conditions where prosthetic or tinted lenses restore both function and appearance
  • Severe astigmatism or extreme prescriptions that fall outside standard contact lens parameters

For many of these conditions, the Las Vegas practice has long been the only option in Nevada, and one of a small number of clinics nationally with the depth of training and lens inventory needed to manage them well.

Technology That Sets the Practice Apart

A specialty contact lens practice is only as effective as the diagnostic tools behind it, and the Las Vegas clinic continues to be home to several technologies unique in the state of Nevada:

  • sMap 3D corneo-scleral topography, the only system of its kind in Nevada, used for designing custom scleral lenses based on a complete map of the eye’s anterior surface
  • EyePrintProsthetic, an impression-based scleral lens system in which Dr. Stephanie Woo is the only certified provider in Nevada
  • Ovitz higher order aberration lens technology, used for correcting visual distortions that traditional lenses cannot, and again the only clinic in Nevada offering this option
  • Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT), used for live, high-resolution imaging during scleral lens fitting
  • Wavefront aberrometry for designing wavefront-guided custom contact lenses
  • Comprehensive corneal topography and pachymetry for keratoconus screening, monitoring, and surgical co-management

For patients with keratoconus, post-LASIK complications, severe dry eye, or other complex conditions, this combination of tools translates directly into better visual outcomes and greater day-to-day comfort.

What “Insight Vision Family” Means

The Insight Vision family started in Costa Mesa, California, where Insight Vision Center Optometry has served Orange County for years as a full-scope practice with a deep specialty lineup: specialty contact lenses, myopia management, vision therapy, dry eye treatment, and comprehensive primary and medical eye care. The Costa Mesa practice carries 600+ Google reviews, an average 4.9-star rating, and a clinical team of fellowship-trained optometrists with credentials including FSLS, FBCLA, FAAO, and FOVDR.

The connection between Costa Mesa and Las Vegas is not new. Dr. Thanh Mai, OD, FSLS, the CEO and co-founder of Insight Vision Center Optometry in Costa Mesa, has long collaborated with Dr. Stephanie Woo across the specialty contact lens community. Dr. Nathan Schramm, OD, FSLS, FBCLA, who also practices at Costa Mesa, has been part of that same orbit. Bringing the two practices under one brand formalizes a clinical and professional friendship that has existed for years and gives both teams a shared platform for the work they care most about.

What Insight Vision means for patients in both locations:

  • A unified standard of care anchored in fellowship-trained optometrists and evidence-based clinical practice
  • Shared clinical knowledge across both locations, especially in specialty contact lenses, myopia management, and corneal disease
  • A clear referral pathway when a patient at one location needs something the other location is uniquely positioned to handle, such as EyePrintProsthetic in Las Vegas or vision therapy in Costa Mesa
  • One trusted name for patients who travel between Southern California and southern Nevada, including snowbirds, students, and families with members in both regions

What Stays the Same, What Is New in Las Vegas

The same trusted care

If you have been a patient of The Contact Lens Institute of Nevada, almost everything stays the same. Dr. Stephanie Woo continues to lead the practice. Your records, your prescriptions, and your fit history all carry forward. The phone number, the address, and the team you know are unchanged. The only differences you will notice are the new name on the door, the new website at insightvisionlv.com, and the broader services now available in the same office.

Expanded services

The most meaningful change is what is added. The Contact Lens Institute of Nevada was, by design, a focused specialty clinic. Insight Vision Optometry, Las Vegas is now a full-service optometry practice. That means routine adult and pediatric eye exams, comprehensive primary eye care, glaucoma evaluation and medication management, diabetic retinopathy screening, dry eye treatment with a complete diagnostic and therapeutic toolkit, refractive surgery co-management for LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL, and cataract procedures, and an in-office optical for prescription glasses and sunglasses, all available at the same location.

For longtime patients, this means more of your eye care needs can be met under one roof. For new patients in Las Vegas, Henderson, Spring Valley, Enterprise, Paradise, and the surrounding communities, it means access to a practice with national-caliber clinical depth that also handles the everyday eye care your family needs. Telehealth and same-day appointments are available, and the practice accepts EyeMed, VSP, FSA, HSA, and CareCredit financing.
