The Power of Leadership: Growing Future Leaders at Insight

Leadership isn’t just about steering the ship—it’s about making sure everyone on board is equipped to become captains themselves. I recently had the privilege of speaking to future pharmacists, physician assistants, and optometrists at Marshall B. Ketchum University, where we explored an incredibly important topic: being a woman in leadership.

The Foundation of Great Leadership

During the panel discussion, I was asked to share one crucial lesson I’ve learned about leadership.

My answer was simple but powerful:

“To be a great leader, you need to set a clear vision for your team and a blueprint for how the team is going to get there. Having weekly meetings with clear objectives and goals is the key to success at Insight—getting everyone to row in the same direction so we can accomplish our milestones on time.”

Without direction, even the most talented teams can feel lost. Leadership isn’t about control; it’s about clarity, communication, and alignment. When everyone understands the “why” behind what they’re doing and has a roadmap to follow, progress happens naturally.

Leadership is About Growth, Not Just Guidance

One of the greatest joys of working at Insight is witnessing the incredible growth of my team members. Leadership isn’t about standing above others—it’s about lifting others up. It’s about seeing potential in people before they see it in themselves and providing them with the tools and confidence to reach new heights.

Over the years, I’ve seen so many inspiring transformations:

  • Optometric technicians stepping into their futures as doctors
  • Admin team members rising to become admin leads
  • Department leads evolving into full-fledged managers

Each of these stories is a testament to the power of mentorship, encouragement, and opportunity.

Creating a Culture of Growth

At Insight, we don’t just build teams—we build leaders. A thriving organization is one where people don’t just have jobs; they have pathways. They have opportunities to develop, learn, and step into roles they never imagined possible.

And that’s what makes leadership so fulfilling. It’s not just about achieving goals, hitting milestones, or growing a business. It’s about watching people grow—witnessing their confidence build, their skills sharpen, and their ambitions soar.
