3 Important Tips for Scleral Lens Users

Lenses have come a long way to help vision-impaired individuals regain better eyesight with the help of intensive research and development. One of these has resulted in the creation of scleral lenses. If used correctly, it’s a safe and effective method of visual correction. However, they have to be taken care of properly to reap the benefits.

1. Take Off Your Lenses at the Right Time

Too much of anything can be bad for you, and the same can be said for scleral lenses. You can wear them for around 12 to 14 hours a day, but you’ll have to remove them eventually. The perfect time to do so is an hour before you’re going to bed. If you notice that your lenses are getting foggy as you’re going about your day, you should remove them. It usually happens due to the lenses being misaligned with your eyes.

2. Clean and Replace Your Storage Case

Everything we use needs to be cleaned or replaced depending on how much we use it, and your scleral lenses are no exception. Eye doctors will say that using a case for too long can result in eye infections due to bacteria thriving in the case. We advise you to clean them regularly or replace them every single month.

3. Listen To Your Doctor’s Advice

Eye care isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. After all, your optometrists know what’s best for you more than anyone. Be sure to take their advice to heart as they know the proper care, solution and answer to any concern you may have.
