Why Should You Consider Getting Polarized Sunglasses This Summer?

Polarized sunglasses are a must-have for people who spend a significant amount of time outdoors, around bodies of water and driving. This type of eyewear blocks glare from surfaces, such as snow and water. If glare makes you feel uncomfortable, or you have recently had cataract surgery, these sunglasses will help you.

What Are Polarized Sunglasses?

Sunglasses with polarized lenses feature a built-in filter that blocks intense, reflected light or glare. Your eyes will feel more at ease when there is minimal glare, and you will also see better. When sunlight hits flat surfaces, the light becomes polarized, or the reflected rays move in a more uniform direction. This is what creates glare that can cause eye discomfort.

If you are over 40 and spend a lot of time outside, you can benefit from progressive lenses with polarization. Eyeglass wearers can get more protection from the sun with polarized sunglasses with photochromic lenses. You can ask your eye doctors about adding an anti-reflective coating to your lens for improved comfort and performance. This coating minimizes the reflections you see from the back surface of your lenses.

Why Get Them This Summer?

You should consider polarized lenses for your eyeglasses if you are constantly exposed to high-glare environments or spend a lot of time outdoors. These lenses can give you clear vision under bright lighting conditions. They reduce glare and reflection as well as eyestrain. When you wear them outside, you will enjoy better visibility, increased contrast and less color distortion.
